Eisner Pediatric & Family Medical Center – Women’s Health Center Receives Best Practice Distinction
Los Angeles, California – November 2010: Eisner Pediatric & Family Medical Center’s Women’s Health Center received the Best Practice distinction from the American College of Nurse-Midwives (ACNM) for lowest rate of primary cesarean section, lowest rate of epidural use, lowest rate of 5 minute infant Apgars below 7 and the lowest rate of NICU admissions. Selection is based on benchmarking data submitted annually to ACNM from like-size practices nationwide.
Poor birth outcomes and long-term failure to thrive are particular concerns within our client community of low-income, un- or underinsured young women (primarily from Mexico and Central America) who typically lack the education and experience to initiate and maintain prenatal health regimens. The purpose of our program is to improve birth outcomes and mother and infant health by ensuring participation in comprehensive perinatal care regimens, self-care management and healthy lifestyle choices, and family planning/reproductive health education.
